Recruiting Strategy for a Chemical Manufacturer
A long-established chemical manufacturer that could not rely on brand recognition faced a structural challenge in acquiring the mid-career talent needed to drive transformation. B supply provided end-to-end support, from redefining the target candidate profile through to selection operations, building a recruiting system that functions on an ongoing basis.
CHALLENGEChallenge
The client is a long-established chemical manufacturer with a history spanning over a century. While its business foundation was well established, its brand recognition as a company was not a strong asset in the recruiting market. In particular, this brand-recognition wall showed up as sluggish applications in the effort to acquire the mid-career talent needed to drive transformation of its existing business. Without a clearly defined candidate profile, sourcing efforts failed to reach the intended talent pool, a structural issue. The company needed to move beyond ad hoc recruiting efforts and transform them into a system that would function on an ongoing basis.
APPROACHApproach
We first began by redefining the recruiting target: a candidate profile of mid-career talent who could genuinely thrive in driving transformation. Working from a value proposition that did not depend on brand recognition, we formulated a recruiting strategy built around this candidate profile. Next, we translated the strategy into execution, taking end-to-end responsibility for both the design of candidate sourcing and outsourced selection operations. A defining feature was not separating strategy formulation from execution, keeping the same team engaged through to the end. We supported the full recruiting workflow, from defining talent requirements through designing touchpoints with applicants to operating the selection process.
IMPACTImpact
The recruiting strategy, built on redefining the target candidate profile, increased applications from the intended talent pool. In parallel, end-to-end support that included selection operations established the recruiting process as a system that functions on an ongoing basis rather than a one-off initiative. Establishing a recruiting model that does not depend on brand recognition has provided a lasting solution to the original challenge of acquiring transformation talent.
